Privacy

Last updated: 7 July 2026

Short version: you don't sign up, we don't collect personal details to let you play, and we only run analytics if you accept the cookie banner. Decline and no analytics cookies are set.

No account, no personal details

You can play SpotTheWord without creating an account or giving us your name, email, or any other personal information. There is no login.

What's stored in your browser

Your game state stays on your device using your browser's local storage — it is not an account and it is not sent to us:

Clearing your browser data removes all of this.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics (provided by Google) to understand how the game is used so we can improve it. It only runs if you accept the cookie banner. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded and it sets no cookies. The data we see is aggregate and is not used to identify you personally. It may include:

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for cross-site advertising. Google processes this data on our behalf; your use of Google Analytics is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can learn more about how Google Analytics uses data.

Cookies & your choice

If you accept, Google Analytics stores a few first-party cookies (for example _ga) to tell repeat visits apart. We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The essential game storage described above is not a cookie and is always local to your device.

Your consent choice is remembered in your browser. To change it, clear this site's browsing data (which resets the banner) and choose again next time you visit.

Children

SpotTheWord- is a general-audience game and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we don't collect personal information to play, this is minimal by design.

Changes
